The Flag We Fly

Today is Flag Day. It should remind us of the sacrifices so many men and women made over the past 250+ years so that we could be free. This month, I see another “flag” flying, often next to our American flag as though it represented something good, and not what God has called evil. It makes me incredibly sad for all who are looking for peace and purpose in what will only end in destruction.

Despite the craziness of the current culture, I’m still glad to be an American. May we use our freedom in Christ, and the God-given freedoms our founding forefathers defined for us in our Constitution and Bill of Rights, for good and not evil.

Galatians 5:13 – For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

1 Peter 2:15-16 – For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

John 8:31-32,36 – So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” … So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

Romans 6:22 – But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

Proverbs 8:13 – The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverted mouth, I hate.

Proverbs 11:2 – When pride comes, then comes dishonor, but with the humble is wisdom.

Proverbs 16:18 – Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.

Isaiah 2:17 – The pride of man will be humbled and the loftiness of men will be abased; and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

1 John 2:16 – For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
