The Fallacy Of Evolution

I came across the following on a friend’s Facebook post, and it was so well expressed that I wanted to share it. I believe that the theory of evolution has done more damage to the cause of Christ than any false and worldly philosophy we will ever encounter.

The gospel begins with Creation. Do not be deceived. If your children are being taught evolution in the classroom, make no mistake: it will influence their understanding and belief in the need for salvation. It is an insidious lie that destroys their identity as precious children made in the image of God.

From the Pastor’s Pen: The Truth of God’s Creation

One of the most pervasive lies of our age is the theory of evolution. This notion has infiltrated classrooms, media, and many churches, deceiving millions into rejecting the clear testimony of God’s Word. Evolution is not merely a scientific theory; it is a worldview that exalts human reason above divine revelation, denies the Creator, and undermines the gospel itself. As believers, we must stand unapologetically on the truth of Scripture, which declares that God created the heavens and the earth by His sovereign power.

Genesis 1:1 says: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” These ten words are the foundation of all reality. They are not myth, allegory, or poetry—they are historical fact, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and recorded by Moses under divine authority. The Hebrew word for “created,” bara, denotes a divine act of bringing something into existence from nothing—ex nihilo. Only God can create in this way. Evolution, by contrast, assumes a naturalistic process, where matter, time, and chance somehow produce life. But Scripture leaves no room for such speculation. Psalm 33:6 decrees, “By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.”

Evolution contradicts this foundational truth. It claims that life arose spontaneously from non-living matter and that simple organisms gradually developed into complex beings over billions of years. This is not science—it is philosophy dressed up as science. True science observes, tests, and repeats. No one has ever observed a fish becoming a frog or an ape becoming a man. Evolution is a hypothesis, not a fact, and it stands in direct opposition to the clear testimony of Scripture.

Evolution is not a neutral theory; it is a deliberate rejection of God’s authority. Romans 1:20–21 tells us, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.” The evolutionist looks at the complexity of the universe—DNA, ecosystems, the human eye—and refuses to acknowledge the Creator. Instead, they suppress the truth in unrighteousness, exchanging the glory of God for a lie.

Consider the implications of evolution. If life is the product of chance, then there is no purpose, no morality, no accountability. Man becomes just another animal, and the sanctity of human life, made in God’s image, is eroded. Genesis 1:26–27 is crystal clear: “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Evolution denies this divine imprint, reducing humanity to a cosmic accident. This is why the theory has fueled atrocities—eugenics, abortion, and the devaluation of life—because if there is no Creator, there is no standard for right and wrong.

Let me address a common compromise: the idea that the “days” of Genesis 1 are not literal 24-hour days but long ages to accommodate evolutionary timelines. This is an attempt to harmonize Scripture with human speculation, and it fails on both biblical and logical grounds. The Hebrew word for “day,” yom, when used with a numerical adjective—as in “the first day,” “the second day”—always refers to a literal 24-hour day in Scripture. Exodus 20:11 reinforces this: “For in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day.” If God meant billions of years, He could have said so. But He didn’t. He said “days.”

Furthermore, the order of creation in Genesis 1 contradicts the evolutionary timeline. Evolution claims sea creatures evolved before birds, but Genesis 1:20–23 says God created birds on day five and land animals on day six. Evolution says the earth existed before the sun, but Genesis 1:14–19 says God created the sun, moon, and stars on day four, after the earth. You cannot reconcile these accounts without twisting Scripture beyond recognition.

The error of evolution is not a minor issue; it strikes at the heart of the gospel. If Genesis 1 is not true, then the foundation of Scripture crumbles. If there was no literal Adam and Eve, no literal Fall, then why do we need a Savior? Romans 5:12 says, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned.” Evolution denies a historical Adam, which undermines the doctrine of original sin and, by extension, the necessity of Christ’s atoning death. If death existed for millions of years before Adam, as evolution claims, then death is not the penalty for sin, and the cross becomes meaningless.

If the first page of the Bible is untrustworthy, why trust the rest? 2 Timothy 3:16–17 declares, “All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.” To reject Genesis is to reject the authority of God’s Word.

So, how should Christians respond to the error of evolution? Let me offer three biblical exhortations.

Trust the Sufficiency of Scripture.

2 Peter 1:3 says God “has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us.” Genesis 1 is not a scientific textbook, but it is true in all it affirms. Trust that God’s Word is sufficient to answer the big questions of origins, purpose, and destiny.

Proclaim the Creator.

Psalm 96:5 says, “All the gods of the peoples are idols, But Yahweh made the heavens.” Evolution is a modern idol, a false god of human reason. Share the truth of Genesis with your children, your neighbors, and your coworkers, unashamed of the gospel.

Live as Image-Bearers.

Since we are created in God’s image, our lives have purpose. Colossians 3:10 calls us to “put on the new man who is being renewed to a full knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.” Live in holiness, reflecting the character of your Creator, and reject the lie that you are merely an evolved animal.

The doctrine of creation is not just about origins; it’s about worship. Revelation 4:11 declares, “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” Every star, every creature, every human life testifies to the glory of God. Evolution robs God of that glory, but Scripture restores it.

When you face the lies of evolution, stand firm on the rock of God’s Word. And when you doubt, remember that the God who spoke the universe into existence is the same God who saves sinners through His Son. Trust Him, worship Him, and live for His glory.

Is carbon dating organic matter found in fossils a sin? I’m planning to bury my cum sock in my backyard so I can damn a bunch of blasphemous science nerds.
